About the role
Premtech are looking for an experienced, industry-proven and commercially astute Board Director to contribute to the strategic leadership of our business. You’ll work with the Board and leadership team to shape long-term strategy, support sustainable growth, and ensure that major contracts, partnerships and growth initiatives align with our strategic intent and risk appetite.
Premtech delivers work from feasibility and conceptual design through to pre-FEED, FEED and fully constructible detailed designs. As a multi-disciplined design consultancy, we provide in-house capability across mechanical, process, civil/structural, electrical, control & instrumentation and cathodic protection, complemented by digital, innovation, surveying and data capture services. Our work spans traditional methane projects and new molecules such as hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
You’ll bring deep sector insight, proven professional engineering capability, strong commercial acumen and experience ensuring the company delivers sustainable growth, robust risk management and strong shareholder value within the evolving energy market.
What you’ll be doing
* Act as a statutory Director, promoting the company’s success and ensuring compliance with the Companies Act 2006 (including timely and accurate statutory filings).
* Provide strategic guidance on Premtech’s long-term direction and growth ambitions across the UK energy sector.
* Collaborate with fellow Board members and the leadership team to enable effective governance, decision-making and performance oversight.
* Attend and actively contribute to Board meetings covering major projects, financial performance, risk oversight and key strategic decisions.
* Monitor organisational performance against agreed strategic objectives and KPIs, supporting sustainable growth and long-term shareholder value.
* Provide professional engineering leadership to clients and stakeholders, safeguarding engineering excellence, quality and innovation.
* Support business development by engaging with clients on strategic opportunities and partnerships, including evaluation of commercial opportunities, market threats and emerging trends.
* Champion a strong culture of safety, environmental responsibility and robust controls to manage HSE and quality risks in line with applicable regulations.
About you
Essential
* Incorporated or Chartered Engineer, with an engineering (or relevant science/technology) degree.
* At least 7 years’ experience in the utility, pipeline, or related energy/infrastructure sectors.
* Significant senior leadership experience, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
* Strong financial and commercial acumen within the utilities or energy sectors, including experience securing high-value contractual partnerships and leading negotiations.
* Extensive project management experience, including managing multiple concurrent engineering projects and administering NEC4 contracts.
* Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills at all organisational levels.
* Demonstrable experience delivering business development and/or financial growth in a comparable environment.
Preferable
Experience operating in a director-level role (for example, 4+ years).
