Key Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities of a Credit Controller in Construction/Infrastructure
1. Client Credit Assessment
2. Evaluate creditworthiness of contractors, suppliers, and clients.
3. Set and review credit limits based on financial risk and project scope
4. Invoice and Payment Management
5. Issue invoices promptly based on project milestones or progress billing.
6. Monitor accounts receivable and chase overdue payments via calls, emails, and formal letters
7. Retention and CIS Handling
8. Track retention payments and ensure they’re released on time.
9. Manage Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) deductions and compliance
10. Debt Recovery
11. Negotiate payment plans and escalate unresolved debts to legal or collection agencies.
12. Liaise with solicitors or bailiffs if necessary
13. Cash Flow Forecasting and Reporting
14. Update cash flow reports regularly to reflect:
15. Expected inflows from invoices and retention releases.
16. Outflows for materials, labour, and subcontractor payments.
17. Align forecasts with project schedules and payment terms
18. Reporting and Analysis
19. Prepare aged debt reports and debtor analysis for senior management.
20. Provide insights into cash flow trends and risks to support financial planning
21. Internal Collaboration
22. Work closely with project managers, finance teams, and procurement to ensure accurate billing and resolve disputes.
23. Maintain up-to-date records of all communications and transactions
24. Compliance and Risk Management
25. Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies.
26. Maintain confidentiality and data security in all financial dealings
