Due to the nature of the work, only applicants with active SC clearance or who are eligible to obtain SC clearance can be considered. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available.
About the Role
A leading Defence organisation is embarking on a major two-year investment to transform its Digital Twin and smart manufacturing capability. As part of this programme, they are seeking a highly skilled Senior Simulation Engineer with experience in Siemens environment, Tecnomatix Plant Simulation and discrete event modelling.
Very exciting project and excellent time to join them – you will be one of the very first people they bring into their team! You will play a pivotal role in shaping how next-generation factories are designed, configured and optimised—translating real-world constraints into high-fidelity digital models that influence strategic decision-making across the business.
What You Will Do
* Develop and enhance Digital Twin simulation models for manufacturing environments.
* Use Tecnomatix Plant Simulation to build discrete event simulations, creating virtual representations of production and logistics systems.
* Analyse system performance models, identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and propose data-driven improvements.
* Work closely with operational, engineering and programme stakeholders to translate real-world scenarios into accurate simulation logic.
* Validate models against live manufacturing data to ensure digital outputs reflect actual shop-floor conditions.
What You Need to Succeed
* Proven experience building manufacturing simulations at factory and/or cell level.
* Hands-on expertise with Siemens Plant Simulation and/or related Tecnomatix tools.
* Strong understanding of discrete event simulation principles for industrial environments.
* Ability to design, structure and debug plant simulation models, including frames, inheritance, methods and experiment management.
* Experience validating simulation outcomes with real manufacturing metrics and operational data.
* Confidence in working with production inputs such as process times, WIP constraints, line balancing, buffers and throughput assumptions.
* Clear communication skills, able to explain model logic, behaviours and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have – but not essential
* Prior experience with Digital Twin projects within a manufacturing setting.
* Previous Defence sector experience or active SC clearance.
