The project:Our client is the utilities provider in the South-East geographic area. Their purpose is to deliver services in an environmentally sustainable, economically beneficial, and socially responsible manner and create sustainable long-term value for all.
You will work within capital delivery, and you will work with project teams in a collaborative environment interacting positively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for the simultaneous delivery of a number of water and water recycling projects and/or programmes within their AMP8 programme. The role will ensure our clients project governance procedures are followed including risk, cost and change control and will work collaboratively with other teams across the business to deliver projects.
Accountable for managing the planning function on allocated projects or tenders, ensuring robust schedules are developed, monitored and controlled. Supports project teams to deliver medium to high‑complexity projects profitably, on time and aligned to wider programme and business objectives.
Please note: This role will be based in Peterborough 2-3 days per week. The successful planner will have a good understanding of Primavera P6.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Managing application of specific planning/scheduling methods, techniques and tools.
2. Good working knowledge of planning/scheduling earned value management (EVM), project controls methodologies.
3. Communicating effectively with the client, project team and stakeholders.
4. Influencing on complex requirements and communicate analysis and corrective measures effectively.
5. Directing and managing a team of professionals delivering planning/schedule management services and responsible for team/individual development.
6. Influencing client to accept proposals and recommendations.
7. Undertaking task/s required to fulfil the requirements of the project/assignment.
8. Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll need to have:
9. Degree educated in construction, engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
10. Significant multi‑sector planning experience using Primavera P6 and schedule management techniques.
11. Strong written communication, problem‑solving and stakeholder management skills.
12. Ability to integrate programme, cost and risk data, driving service excellence and planning assurance.
