Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior General Practice Pharmacy Technician within our Primary Care Pharmacy Team based at within GP practices/ care settings in North Ayrshire.
What you will do:
Work with practices and General Practice Clinical Pharmacists to identify specific prescribing initiatives to be undertaken.
Work within Primary care settings in NHS Ayrshire & Arran including GP practices and other community settings including clinics, care homes and patients homes.
Provide pharmaceutical care to patients in GP practices and care homes, to ensure safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines in line with local and national guidelines.
Support any activities designed to improve the effectiveness and / or safety of repeat prescribing systems.
Deliver all required aspects of the pharmacotherapy service as per agreed work plans in each practice. This may include medicines reconciliation, serial prescribing, medication review and acute prescribing in line with local and national protocols, guidelines and service specifications.
Works with Hospital Pharmacy Team on prescribing ssues as appropriate e.g. discharge audit between scheduled and unscheduled care.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
N/SVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services and SQA National Certificate pharmaceutical sciences (or equivalent).
Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Relevant experience as a qualified pharmacy technician in hospital, community pharmacy or primary care.
Portfolio demonstrating competence of previous and current pharmacy practice skills & knowledge and continuing professional development.
Computer literate with knowledge of information technology including Microsoft Office.
Good communication skills (oral and written).
Good interpersonal skills.

Hours:
37 hours per week - 8.30-4.30, Monday to Friday.
UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
A UK car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
