Overview
To carry out street cleansing operations across Somerset, to enhance and maintain the environment, with little disruption to customers.
Responsibilities
* Litter picking, hand sweeping, bin emptying, fly tip removal and toilet cleaning.
* Other reasonable duties as required.
Customer Service
To be a member of the street cleansing team, carrying out duties that will enhance and maintain the environment, with little disruption to customers.
Vehicle Use and Maintenance
* Drive a non-LGV vehicle and machinery as required.
* Check fluid levels, tyre pressures and wear, bulbs etc.
* Maintain vehicles and equipment in a clean and tidy manner.
* Complete the Daily User Check and report any defects to your supervisor or Operational Management.
Reporting
Reporting back to supervision on work completed, and the Health and Safety of those that may be affected by your actions or omissions.
Health and Safety
Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do. Co-operate with your employer on health and safety, and do not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare. Follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you. Tell your employer, supervisor or health & safety representative if you think the work or inadequate precautions are putting anyone's Health & Safety at serious risk.
Machinery and Use of Tools
Operate all tools and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner in accordance with manufacturers recommended instructions.
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate and legible records including timesheets, tick sheets, vehicle and machinery defect report forms, pesticide application forms, incident forms etc.
Qualifications
Essential
* Good standard of education.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Self-motivated and able to provide a quality level of service with minimum supervision.
Desirable
* Experience of a hands on, physical role.
* Experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
Dimensions of Role
* No direct reports.
* No budgetary responsibilities.

Working Conditions
Working outside/no regular office base, in all weather conditions. Exposure to disagreeable, unpleasant or hazardous environmental working conditions.
Working Arrangements
The post holder may be required to work flexibly and undertake duties outside of normal working hours e.g., weekends, later in the afternoon/evening, unsocial hours and for special events.
Working Hours
The post is full time, 37 hours per week, however the days worked in the week may vary depending on the needs of the service.
