We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant within the Hounslow Community Neuro-rehabilitation Team.

Our Vacancy is for:

Permanent Occupational Therapy Assistant - Band 4 - 37.5hrs

This is an ideal post for an experienced Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant / Occupational Therapy Assistant looking to further develop their neurology and management skills or a current Band 4 looking for a new challenge.

This job will allow the successful applicant to work within a specialist neurological service with patients with a variety of neurological conditions. They will be able to take ownership of a small non-complex caseload of their own whilst working in collaboration with a variety of clinical specialists within the team.

Within the team there is a strong focus on personal and service development and you will be given opportunities to participate in in-service training programme and external training where appropriate. There will also be opportunity to participate in service and national audit activities including SSNAP as well as evidence based practice development activities.


Main duties of the job

The Hounslow Community Neuro Rehab Team (CNRT) is a client-centred, integrated Multi-disciplinary team comprising of an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a Neuro Psychologist, a Pharmacist, a Specialist Nurse practitioner, an Occupational Therapy Assistant and Rehab assistants.

The Neuro-rehab teamworks across both intensive short-term rehab and longer term rehab pathways. There are opportunities to develop skills in rapid assessment and facilitating discharge from hospital, long term condition management and specialist neuro-rehab.

The service has developed specialist MDT clinics for Parkinsons' Disease and Multiple Sclerosis and this post enables opportunities to develop specialist skills with these conditions. The team also help rehabilitate patients following acute stroke within the community in both pathways and treat patients with a variety of long term neurological conditions. The team works toward achieving personal set goals with patients including return to work.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Good general education. GCSE in English and Maths/NVQ level ll/lll Health related studies or equivalent
* Care Certificate


Experience

* An understanding of Occupational therapy
* Understanding of the importance of confidentiality in healthcare
* Experience of older people/ people with disabilities /multicultural environment
* Experience of dealing with the public
* Previous work in health or social care setting
* Previous role as Rehabilitation Assistant / Occupational Therapy Assistant
* Experience working with patients with neurological diagnoses


Knowledge & Skills

* Ability to comply with moving and handling regulations
* Health and safety / risk awareness
* Understanding of concept of enabling clients through the therapy process
* Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities
* Competent IT skills to enable effective documentation

£32,199 to £34,876 a yearper annum inclusive of HCAS
