The Payroll & HR Systems Manager will play a central role in embedding the new system, optimising processes, strengthening reporting capability and ensuring a smooth transition across the organisation.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll & HR Systems Manager to take ownership of end-to-end UK payroll operations while leading the optimisation and development of payroll and HR systems.
This is a high-impact role responsible for ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly and efficiently, while driving system improvements and strengthening cross-functional processes across HR, Finance and IT.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the accurate and timely delivery of monthly UK payroll
2. Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations, PAYE, NI, statutory payments and pension auto-enrolment
3. Manage year-end processes including P60s, P11Ds and reconciliations
4. Oversee payroll and HR systems, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance
5. Drive system improvements, upgrades and integrations
6. Partner with Finance, HR and IT teams to ensure seamless data flow and reporting
7. Provide payroll reporting, analytics and insights to senior leadership
8. Act as the key point of contact for payroll queries and external providers
9. Maintain robust controls, documentation and audit readiness
About You
You are a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong systems expertise and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
You will bring:
10. Proven experience managing end-to-end UK payroll
11. Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements
12. Experience managing payroll and/or HR systems (system implementation experience highly desirable)
13. Advanced Excel capability
14. Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
15. Experience leading system improvements or implementations
16. Excellent stakeholder management skills
17. CIPP qualification (desirable)
18. Experience within a multi-site or international organisation (advantageous)
