Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable HGV Class 1 Driver and Yard Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivery of our steelwork and materials to farms and to help load, assist with customers, stock control and general house keeping in the yard. This role requires a proactive approach to tasks, including operating machinery and assisting with deliveries. A background in agricultural deliveries, particularly with flatbed vehicles, is advantageous. At times you may be required to have night outs in the lorry due to some of the locations we deliver to.
Responsibilities
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard, ensuring all materials are stored properly.
* Operate yard equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
* Assist in loading and unloading materials for delivery using flatbed lorries.
* Delivery of steelwork or any other items required.
* Support delivery drivers by preparing loads and ensuring all items are ready for transport.
* Conduct regular inspections of yard equipment to ensure safety standards are met.
* Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
* Follow all health and safety regulations while performing duties.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
* Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
* Experience of rural deliveries is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
* Passionate about providing excellent customer service.
* Ability to work to deadlines.
* Confident, polite, and a team player.
* Good geographical knowledge.
* Previous experience in a yard or warehouse environment is preferred.
* Ability to operate machinery safely, with relevant training or certification preferred.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
* Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and delivery drivers.
* Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, including lifting heavy items when necessary.
