The Rehabilitation Services Director is responsible forthe development planning management and operation of theorganizations rehabilitation services programs including physicaltherapy speech therapy occupational therapy and cardiac rehab. Thefunctions of the Director include staffing scheduling budgetdevelopment and monitoring program development and evaluation staffcompetency/evaluation performance improvement safety and riskmanagement and marketing as each is related to the servicesprovided.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assumes the responsibility and authority forthe ongoing operation of the rehabilitation programs.
* Develops implements and reviews program protocolsstanding orders policies and procedures following the hospitalsmission strategic plans and other identified needs.
* Develops admission processes specific to the departmentrehabilitation guidelines staffing patterns and recordkeepingroutines.
* Responsible for hiring orientatingtraining performance managing providing timely constructiveevaluation of staff and making employment decisions.
* Develops and implements staff education programs andseminars to maintain current competency in rehabilitation careconcepts.
* Along with staff input selectsmaintains calibrates and identifies equipment forreplacement.
* Evaluates develops and implementsnew services.
* Prepares participant orientationeducation exercise and counseling.
* Communicates regularly with patients primary physiciansregarding progress problems and plan of care.
* Evaluates productivity assessments and developsdepartment budget and marketing plans.
* Demonstrates knowledge of rehabilitation modalities andobserves evaluates treatment effects and provides recommendationsfor all rehabilitation services.
* Coordinatesand directs patient care to ensure patients needs are met andhospital policies are followed.
* Ensuresdocumentation meets current standards and policies for allrehabilitation services i.e. ISO/NIAHO DNV Medicare etc.
* Patient Care Services assigned members of the Stroke Teamare responsible for attending quarterly meetings and to comply with2 hours of Stroke education annually.
* Communicates with peers and staff andconsults/collaborates with services intra and interdepartmentallyto promote efficient and effective patient care and performanceimprovement within the hospital.
* Maintainsprofessional growth and development through education seminarsconferences workshops etc.
* Reviews applicablecurrent literature for all rehabilitation serviceprograms.
* Participates in hospital committeeshospitalsponsored programs and activities and civic communityactivities as requested.

1. Adheres to organizationwide and other applicable policiesand procedures.
2. Daytoday performance complieswith the hospitals Service Excellence BehavioralExpectations.
3. Performs within the prescribedlimits of the hospitals Ethics Compliance and ConfidentialityProgram guidelines.
4. Performs within theprofessional Scope of Practice at all times.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
Experience:
* Must have 3 to 5 years ofexperience as a staff rehabilitation professional (PT OT SLP) in anacute care clinical setting.
* Must have 1 to 2years of experience in a leadership role or management position.Leadership roles or management positions should have includedactive and direct interaction.
* Preferredexperience in exposure to skilled nursing home healthrehabilitation clinical settings and cardiacrehabilitation.
Education:
* A Bachelors Masters orDoctorate in a rehabilitation professional area of study (i.e.Physical Therapy Speech/Language Occupational) from a programapproved by the State of Texas is required.
* Physical Therapy degree is preferred
Licenses Certifications and/orRegistration:
* Must belicensed as a rehabilitation services professional in the State ofTexas (physical therapist speech/language occupational).
* PT Preferred
* BLS/BCLS certificationis required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilitiesrequirements:
* Must haveCommunication and relationship skills necessary to collaborate withphysicians providers and hospital personnel.
* Ability to empower and develop staff to share indecisionmaking processes.
* Strong computerskills including spreadsheets email calendars and internetapplications in a Windows environment with Microsoft OfficeApplications such as Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook etc.
