We have a position available for a Coffee Shop/Barista Assistant at our new coffee shop and deli within the Health and Wellbeing Centre. We are seeking an engaging and courteous individual passionate about food and beverage preparation and education.

The Barista Assistant will greet customers, answer inquiries, take orders, accept payments, and prepare and serve food and drinks. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area, updating displays, and expanding knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation as a trained coffee barista.

This role primarily involves working in the Health and Wellbeing Coffee Shop/Deli. However, you may be required to work in other catering areas within the organization.

Please note: We reserve the right to close this vacancy early once a sufficient number of applications are received.

* Prepare foodstuffs, clean equipment and areas within the Health & Wellbeing Centre, and serve food to staff.
* Operate in the central dishwash area.
* Prepare foods such as sandwiches or baked goods, grind and blend coffee beans, brew coffee and tea, and serve items to customers.
* Package food and beverages for sale.
* Sell coffee and tea blends and brewing equipment, highlighting differences and educating customers about brewing methods.
* Clean and restock work and dining areas, empty trash, and sanitize equipment and utensils.
* Learn about brewing methods, beverage blends, and food presentation techniques to improve quality.
* Update signage and displays to attract customers.
* Take inventory and replenish items in display cases, tables, or behind the counter. Work as part of a fun, high-energy team.
* Adhere to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
