Specialist CAMHS Practitioner/Clinical Psychologist
As an autonomous practitioner you will play a key part in the delivery of high-quality service provision that promotes and improves the mental health and well-being of children and young people, their families and carers. You will manage a complex caseload within a multi-disciplinary team, providing care appropriate to the child or young person’s needs including full mental health assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation and therapeutic interventions. Within a systemic and holistic framework, you will undertake needs-led, evidence-based assessments and provide therapeutic interventions, evidencing shared decision making and partnership working with children, young people and their families/carers.
You will provide advice, information, consultation and supervision within the service and externally within your specialist area. You will actively liaise with and support robust partnership working arrangements between the CAMHS team and community partners and other key stakeholders involved with the child across agencies that work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health THRIVE framework. This is a clinical post and the majority of your time is expected to be spent in actual practice.
Responsibilities
* Assume responsibility for management of a complex caseload and exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children, young people and their families/carers, liaising with and referring to relevant agencies as appropriate.
* Undertake needs-led, evidence-based assessments and provide therapeutic interventions, ensuring shared decision making in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.
* Provide advice, information, consultation and supervision within the service and externally within your specialist area.
* Collaborate with CAMHS team and community partners to support robust partnership working across agencies within the THRIVE framework.
* Time management to balance clinical practice with professional responsibilities in a busy CAMHS setting.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: You must be registered/accredited with a professional body (e.g., NMC, SW England, UKCP, HCPC, BACP).
* Essential: Recognised qualification in one of the following specialities: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (D. Clin Psych) or equivalent (e.g., RMN/RSCN/RNMH, Social Work CQSW/DipSW, Occupational Therapy).
* Desirable: Qualifications in psychotherapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT/IAPT) and/or accreditation; postgraduate or master level qualification; mentorship/ENB998 or equivalent; research/audit qualifications.
* Essential: Substantial post-qualification experience in Young People’s mental health services; experience in CAMHS (inpatient or community); experience working with people with mental health difficulties in community and/or inpatient settings; extensive experience in risk assessment and safeguarding; experience developing and delivering evidence-based assessments, formulations and intervention programmes for children, young people and families; experience liaising with diverse agencies; ability to manage a complex caseload in a multidisciplinary setting; mentoring and supervision experience; understanding of Clinical Governance and adherence to Trust policies.
* Desirable: Post-qualification experience in a specific therapy within CAMHS.
