Full-Time Relief DBS Chefs & Cooks Wanted
£17.50-£20 per hour | Ongoing Work | Schools + Other Sectors Available
?? Areas covered: Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Shrewsbury, Market Drayton, Crewe, Leek & surrounding
We're currently looking for reliable, full-time relief chefs and cooks with an Enhanced DBS to support a lot of our current clients within the Staffordshire areas.
A big part of the work is within schools, academies and nurseries, so an Enhanced DBS is essential, however we also cover care homes, hotels, restaurants, pubs, golf clubs, conference venues and contract catering sites, meaning we can keep you working consistently each week.
????? What the role looks like
You'll be stepping in to support kitchens when they need it most, whether that's sickness cover, short-term gaps, or ongoing bookings during busy periods.
This isn't just a 'school dinner' role, you'll be:
You'll be:
Cooking fresh, nutritious meals (especially within school settings)
Work within a team to ensure jobs are completed for the day
Putting away deliveries.
Possibility of food orders i.e. head chef/chef manager.
Assist with the preparation of food & other areas of the kitchen including pot washing.
Adhering to all relevant health and safety requirements
Cooking nutritious food within requirements
Potential of working alone
Ensure a clean as you go policy is being always operated
Possibility of serving food
Possibility of till operation
Working with dietary requirements and allergens
Supporting or running kitchens depending on the job
Picking up a mix of long-term bookings, ongoing cover but also any adhoc sickness cover that maybe needed.
Most school work is Monday to Friday, with starts around 6/7/8am and finishes between 2pm-5pm, so it's great structure - and if you want extra hours, we can top this up in other sectors.

If you don't want to be stuck in one type of site, that's absolutely fine, we've got plenty going on elsewhere.

So we can keep you busy week in, week out, and mix things up if that's what you prefer.
? What you'll need
An Enhanced DBS (child or adult workforce) within the last 12 months or on the update service
(If you don't have one, we can help sort it, at a cost.)
Previous chef or cook experience - minimum of 6 months to 1 year plus, as a cook/ chef de partie level.
Someone who's reliable and happy to get stuck in
A good attitude and pride in what you cook
Great communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work alone as aswell as a team.
Level 2 food hygiene certificate (ideal but not essential as training is provided)
Allergen certificates
Passion for food
Ability to work under pressure
Due to certain locations a full UK driving license is required along with own access to a vehicle
