We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join a team supporting children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs. This is a hands-on role where understanding behaviour, trauma, and emotional regulation is essential.
You will work closely with pupils who may struggle to manage their emotions, cope with change, or engage in learning. Your role will be to provide consistent, calm, and structured support, helping them to access education while feeling safe and understood.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils in the classroom and during structured activities
* Use de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviour
* Apply trauma-informed approaches to build trust and resilience
* Encourage positive behaviour, routines, and social skills
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
* Observe, report, and contribute to personalised support plans
Skills and Experience
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
* Understanding of trauma, attachment, and emotional regulation
* Ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Reflective, patient, and committed to the wellbeing of pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
