About the role

We are seeking a Lecturer in Creative Arts and Humanities: Interdisciplinary Writing to undertake teaching and research in creative arts and humanities with a specialism in interdisciplinary writing, which may include writing for/with moving image or performance, creative non-fiction, cultural criticism, or digital writing. An interest in one or more of the following research areas would be desirable, but other areas will also be considered: African, Asian, South American writing, or related diasporic cultures; post-colonial writing; climate change; digital cultures; gender; migration; moving image; performance; race; sexuality; travel.

The postholder will lead a number of modules with responsibility for both creative and critical writing modules. In addition, they will also be required to undertake world leading research into creative arts and humanities with a specialism relevant to interdisciplinary creative writing including: publishing high quality outputs which may include creative outputs, leading and participating in gaining grants; developing research networks.

The postholder will also be required to act as a Personal Academic Tutor and provide guidance to their tutees on how to curate their degree.

The post is based at the UCL East campus in Stratford, but some travel may be required to the Bloomsbury campus for departmental activities or to contribute to teaching on the BASc Arts and Sciences programmes.

This post is full-time and available from 3 August or as soon as possible after that date.

The postholder will be educated to Doctoral level or have equivalent professional experience in any area relevant to creative arts and humanities with a specialism in interdisciplinary writing.

It is essential for the appointee to have experience in an area of creative writing and have the ability to develop and teach critical modules in the study of writing.

Previous experience of teaching cultural and creative writing in interdisciplinary creative arts and humanities and in relevant curriculum development is essential. In addition, the postholder must have proven experience in research in creative arts and humanities with a specialism in interdisciplinary writing.

In addition, the postholder will have the ability to create and manage research programmes in creative arts and humanities with a specialism in interdisciplinary writing. A proven ability to mentor students and excellent communication skills are also essential.
