Position Summary
An opportunity lead Account Team with a major UK Retailer, with overall responsibility for delivery of the sales targets, formulating the commercial strategy, managing and developing the strategic account plan for all categories within MX!
Reporting to the Head of Sales (Retail & Distribution), the Account Director leads, develops and guides the account team in optimising their account planning to deliver financial and strategic objectives. The Account Director is responsible for the local account strategy whilst working in matrix with Europe and Samsung HQ in Korea to implement the needed plans to maximise revenues, premium market share and account margin.
The Account Director is responsible for maintaining existing and developing new customer and partner relationships that foster win-win engagements that deliver long term and sustainable growth!
Role and Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities
Develop Market & Customer Knowledge, Define the Execution Strategy
1. Ownership of Senior, Europe and HQ relationships responsible for driving the business
2. Contributes to the setting of the account sales strategy and implements the strategy within the team to maximise growth opportunities for the business
3. Implements the local strategy for the Smartphone portfolio and in matrix with other product categories to ensure an optimum landscape for growth
4. Understand customer’s strategic drivers and aligns with Samsung’s objectives.
5. Sets, steers and leads quarterly and long term reviews with the customer.
Manage Business
6. Maintain relationships with key customers to drive profitable growth, through identifying and acting on market intelligence, shopper insight and marketing dynamics to deliver appropriate quarterly and annual plans.
7. Ensure the delivery of a smooth and efficient end to end sales process through developing strong internal networks and external customer relationships.
8. Understand our product and services portfolio and develop innovative and leading propositions to create and meet consumer demand across the customer base.
Implement Commercial Strategy
9. Drive profitable business growth through a clear understanding and management of financial Key Performance Indicator’s
10. Manage business projects, through cross functional or virtual teams seeing opportunity for profitable growth.
11. Lead a team of Account Managers and Account Executives to run the best in class customer account planning process by analysing the customer’s portfolio and advising and agreeing on product solutions that maximise profitable growth and ensure long term relationships with the customer.
12. Complete Annual JBP’s focussing on longer term alignment and growth.
Close the Deal
13. Carry out regular planning and analysis to find opportunities and gaps and provide solutions to our customers that ensure a positive return on investment.
14. Manage complex negotiations involving senior customer partners.
15. Drive preferred partner relationships through consultative selling, using a category management and insight led approach.
Your key people management responsibilities
16. Lead a team of 2 x National Account managers own the responsibility for all MX categories within the chosen customer.
17. You will also have a team of Omni Channel Managers who will support the commercial function with Marketing & execution support that will need to be indirectly led & guided by the Account Director.
What we need for this role
To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:
18. University degree or equivalent experience (preferably with Business/Commercial direction)
19. Shown Sales experience within the Retail channel (incl. account management experience)
20. Excellent negotiation and commercial skills
21. Detailed knowledge of the Retail landscape
22. Experience of category management, insight led planning and the electronics supply chain
23. Sales team motivational and coaching skills
24. Strong communication & presentation skills
25. Experience of working in an international, matrix driven organisation
