Job summary
Blackwater Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a physician associate (PA) to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis, as the hours of work can be flexible.
You will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary, general practice team to meet the needs of the patient, managing clinical cases (mostly minor illnesses) and to be able to deal with presenting patient needs within a primary care setting.
Main duties of the job
1. Work as an autonomous, accountable Associate Physician, providing a holistic approach including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to deliver high-quality patient services in the home or practice.
2. Work closely together and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary workforce including, GPs, pharmacists, nurses, and social prescribers.
3. Use advanced clinical skills to provide education to patients and service users, promoting self-care and empowering them to make informed choices about their treatment.
4. Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or signpost patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions relating to minor illness or injury, supported by senior clinicians as needed.

Qualifications
Essential
10. A postgraduate degree in Physician Associate Studies from an accredited PA programme;
11. Membership of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes UK Physician Associate Registration (the PA Managed Voluntary Register);
12. Current and valid certification or re-certification by the UK Physician Associate National Examination.
Experience
Essential
13. Experience including preventative medicine and chronic disease management;
14. Flexible and adaptable approach to a varied and high-volume workload, with the ability to multi-task and to work under pressure;
15. Consistently compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
16. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, nurses, other staff and agencies;
17. Commitment to continuing professional development.
