Assistant Management Accountant
This role supports the preparation of management accounts, maintains financial records, and assists in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. It plays a key part in the day‑to‑day operations of the finance function and offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical and commercial finance skills.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly management accounts for review
* Support month‑end close processes, including journal postings and reconciliations
* Maintain accruals, prepayments, and the fixed asset register
* Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
* Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
* Prepare and submit supplier payment runs for approval
* Assist with processing payments via accounting software and online banking systems
* Support general ledger maintenance and ensure data accuracy
* Support credit control processes, including managing client queries, disputes, and refund requests
* Provide support to junior members of the finance team where required
* Design, implement, and embed robust Group finance processes and controls
* Improve efficiency through process standardisation and automation
* Ensure strong documentation of procedures and controls across the Group
* Support the development, optimisation, and integration of finance systems
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes, controls, and reporting
* Assist in maintaining accurate financial documentation and audit trails
Key Qualities
* AAT qualified or finalist
* Previous experience within a finance or management accounting function
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* Good working knowledge of Excel and accounting systems
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn
