We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer - 5G to play a key role in the development of advanced next-generation communication systems, with a focus on Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) integration. This is an opportunity to be part of a growing team that designs and delivers complex communication infrastructure, supporting high-speed mobile broadband, machine-to-machine communication, and innovative connectivity solutions in challenging environments.
Your Role: In this role, you will be responsible for the system-level design and analysis of advanced 5G communication systems, focusing on both the payload and the supporting ground infrastructure. You will help define architecture, guide technology decisions, and ensure robust system performance.
Using your deep understanding of 5G standards and technologies, you’ll contribute to product development and support technical discussions with global partners, stakeholders, and standards organizations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Define and manage end-to-end system-level requirements and interface specifications
2. Perform system trade studies and architecture analysis to support optimal design decisions
3. Translate high-level performance goals into detailed subsystem/component requirements
4. Develop system and payload CONOPS, focusing on on-board processors and enabling software
5. Define requirements for processing systems, maximizing use of existing IP and technologies
6. Support technology risk reduction, roadmap planning, and validation strategies
7. Engage with industry standards groups (e.g., 3GPP) to address technical issues and contribute to evolving 5G standards
8. Support proposal development and customer engagement for new business opportunities
9. Lead technical discussions with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
What You Bring
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field (Master’s or PhD)
* At least 5 years of experience in communications system engineering
* Proven track record in system-level analysis and architecture development
* In-depth understanding of 5G NR and NB-IoT stacks, and associated technologies (e.g., ORAN, Small Cell Forum)
* Knowledge of 5G core networks and end-to-end system behavior
* Experience with proposal writing and technical presentations for RFI/RFP responses
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and organizations
* Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including government agencies and commercial partners, is highly desirable
* Familiarity with advanced technologies such as phased array antennas, on-board processing, and NTN solutions is an asset
