About this role

Wythenshawe site is looking to appoint a Band 5 Radiographer to join the large and diverse Plain Film X-Ray team. The successful candidate will integrate into a new 7-day working rota (implemented September 2023) with shift patterns including nights, long days and regular daytime work. The department has updated plain film equipment through a managed equipment service (2021) with further replacements planned for 2026 and 2027. Experience with plain film imaging, ideally with DR equipment, and the ability to teach, train and support junior staff is desirable to maximise the benefit of the investment.

Responsibilities

• Perform all plain film examinations to the highest standard in line with Divisional and National guidelines.
• Produce high quality diagnostic images using appropriately applied imaging techniques as per departmental protocols.
• Provide a high standard of patient care in a safe, clean and tidy department observing Trust and Departmental policies.
• Maintain professional and personal standards.
• Prioritise workload on the basis of clinical need.
• Liaise with the B7 Clinical Lead Radiographers and B8a Site Lead Radiographer, and show leadership in their absence.
• Liaise with other departments, wards and clinicians in a constructive and professional manner.
• Full, integrated participation on 7-day working rota.
• Supervise student radiographers in conjunction with the Clinical Tutor and the University of Salford.
• Be actively involved in QA and radiation protection.
• Contribute to clinical audit and the training of other radiographers as required.

• Plain film experience; ideally with DR equipment
• Ability to teach, train and support more junior staff
• Willingness to work as part of a 7-day rota
• Ability to work across multiple sites (Trafford, Altrincham & Withington Hospitals)
