Job overview

The Associate Director of Clinical & Quality Assurance is a senior leadership post in the Clinical, Medical & Education Directorate. The role reports to the Deputy Chief Paramedic and provides strategic leadership to four key teams

1) Safeguarding

2) Infection, Prevention & Control

3) Health, Safety & Security

4) Regulatory Compliance (including CQC and legal teams)

Main duties of the job

The role will involve working closely with our Heads of Clinical Operations to address issues of clinical quality and regulatory assurance across the six counties that EEAST covers. You will coordinate the Trust and board assurance of clinical quality and regulatory assurance and be a key interface for strategic commissioners. The Trust has various regulatory organisations we must align to including the CQC, HSE, OFSTED and NHS England amongst others. This will be a busy and rewarding role that will support EEAST to make the improvements that are needed to provide safe and effective patient care.

1. Contribute and, in their area, lead on the development of long-term, strategy and decision-making activity for the Organisation, and work as part of the Directorate Management Team to ensure implementation of such within your geographical area of responsibility.
2. Develop and create clinical policies and procedures in line with the role’s area of responsibility.
3. Able to work at Team, Directorate and Organisational level, formulating plans and strategies for implementation at all these levels.
4. Produce and use highly complex, sensitive and/or contentious information to shape, influence and inform Organisational clinical agenda/strategy

Experience

Essential criteria

5. Master’s Degree in a professionally related subject, and/or equivalent significant experience of working at a senior level in a specialist area.
6. Mentorship Qualification (at least level 5).
7. Postgraduate Teaching Qualification, or experience of providing education at this level in healthcare.
8. Extensive knowledge and experience of NHS Ambulance Services Clinical Quality, acquired through experience and training, plus further specialist knowledge or experience to Master’s Level equivalent.
9. Evidence of extensive post-qualification development and Continuing Professional Development in Expert Clinical Practice, Education, Research, and Leadership.
10. Experience of leading the development of the strategic clinical direction, contributing significantly to the strategic clinical direction of the Organisation, and the ability to influence the direction of the strategy to benefit staff and patients.
11. Extensive experience in ensuring clinical safety across an organisation, including setting strategy and delivering change.
12. Experience of line management responsibility.

Desirable criteria

13. Experience in regulatory assurance especially working with regulators and other relevant organisations.
14. Mentorship Qualification (at least level 5).

15. Must have an understanding of the background to, and aims of, current healthcare policy, and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
16. Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England, and individual provider and commissioning organisations.
