Application Deadline: 1 June 2026

Department: Childcare & Education

Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time

Location: Barnet Campus (Wood Street)

Compensation: £35,849 – £47,299 / year

Description

Are you an Early Years professional who is passionate about working with learners at the start of their journey into the sector? Do you have the expertise and enthusiasm to teach foundation‑level programmes that open doors for people who might not previously have seen a career in Early Years as an option for them? If so, we would love to hear from you.

As our Foundation Early Years Lecturer, you will deliver motivating, inclusive teaching across Childcare and Supporting Teaching and Learning programmes from Level 1 upwards, including T Level Early Years and Higher Education, within our Education and Care department at Wood Street Campus. Your focus will be on giving learners a strong, supported start, building confidence alongside knowledge and helping them see what is possible in the Early Years and childcare sectors.

You will take on personal tutor and course leader responsibilities, support learners through work placements and assessment, and contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance as part of a collaborative and experienced team. This role is available full time or part time — please indicate your preference in your application.

Key Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

* Inspiring teaching: Plan and deliver high‑quality, motivating and inclusive sessions across foundation and higher‑level Childcare and Supporting Teaching and Learning programmes, adapting your approach to meet the needs of learners from diverse backgrounds and at different stages of their development.
* Learner success: Monitor and track learner progress, maintain accurate records and statistical data, and ensure learners have the academic and pastoral support they need to achieve, progress and move confidently into the sector or further study.
* Course leadership: Act as Personal Tutor and/or Course Leader, monitoring attendance, liaising with parents and guardians, supporting quality assurance activity and taking responsibility for the smooth running of your programme areas.
* Curriculum development: Contribute to curriculum planning, development and improvement, individually and as part of the wider Education and Care team, keeping provision current and well aligned to sector expectations and awarding body requirements.
* Work placements: Support the development and management of appropriate and safe work placement opportunities, helping learners connect theory to real Early Years and childcare practice in the field.
* Wider contribution: Participate in induction, open days, advice and guidance events, parents evenings and enrolment, and contribute to quality assurance and inspection preparation across the department.
