The overall purpose of this role is to:
* Act as the shift co-ordinator on a day-to-day basis, providing supervision and support to the multidisciplinary team.
* Develop, manage, and monitor the performance of a team of nurses, ensuring high standards of care and safety.
* Promote effective communication and teamwork at all levels.
* Demonstrate clinical leadership skills and specialist knowledge.
* Assist the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in managing staff within the Emergency Department, including HR, clinical governance, and risk management.
* Contribute to the strategic and operational development of the department.

Minimum requirements include:
* Registered Paediatric Nurse
* Evidence of ongoing professional development through NMC revalidation
* Mentorship qualification recognized by NMC
* Minimum of 3 years acute care registered nurse experience
Desirable criteria include:
* UK recognized Degree in Nursing
* Post-graduate qualification in relevant area
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to prioritize workload and contribute to standards of practice
* Leadership by example and ability to supervise staff
* Experience managing clinical incidents and complaints
Clinical Practice requirements:
* Knowledge of delivering high standards of care
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Effective documentation and communication skills
* Proactive in education and care management
Additional desirable skills include competence in intravenous medicines and central venous access management, and a commitment to continuous professional development. You must hold appropriate UK professional registration.
