Overview of Role
The Field Service/Support Engineer provides highly visible customer support through on-site installation, diagnosis, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Responsibilities include checking operational quality, instructing customers in system operation and maintenance, and serving as a liaison with customers on technical and administrative matters. This role may involve support for hardware, software, PCs, and networking/wireless systems. The position involves providing Cargo Vehicle Inspection (CVI) equipment support across Europe, former CIS, Central & SW Asia, Middle East, and Africa regions.
Responsibilities
* Carry out repair, maintenance, and overhaul of cargo systems (CVI)
* Perform general maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault finding on CVI systems & sub-systems
* Respond to 3rd line technical requests from sites, liaising with engineers, distributors, or customer reps
* Provide defect liability or post-acceptance support for CVI mobile or airport cargo equipment
* Install static, gantry, or portal CVI systems as part of installation teams
* Travel nationally and internationally up to 90% of the time to regions including Europe, CIS, Middle East, Africa, and challenging environments
* Complete technical documentation such as service reports and engineering change requests, and input data into databases
Qualifications
* Engineering qualification (BTEC, C&G, HNC or similar)
* Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems
* Knowledge of IT networking solutions, CCNP or similar certification
* Understanding of integrated IT systems, including PLC, HV systems, and radar
* Willingness to travel globally, often on short notice, in challenging environments; experience in similar roles is advantageous
