Paint Shop Operations Manager

Copello are working with a defence organisation who are looking for an Operations Manager to head up the Paint Shop team. The role involves ensuring operational KPIs align with business requirements, developing, monitoring, and prioritising the production plan to meet delivery targets, and building a high-performing production team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute the production plan to meet on-time delivery (OTD) and arrears targets.
2. Lead the paint/prep team to achieve deliverables through clear communication, planning, scheduling, monitoring, and appraisals.
3. Provide feedback to the Value Stream managers on weekly priority requirements.
4. Drive improvements within the paint area to enhance business productivity.
5. Collaborate with the Tier 3 Operations leadership team to address challenges in the paint shop.
6. Recruit, develop, and set targets for employees in the paint shop and prep area, ensuring HR compliance.
7. Manage inventory of paint and consumables.
8. Develop systems for future capacity planning.
9. Monitor equipment condition and plan for maintenance and future requirements.
10. Ensure SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) compliance, maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
11. Provide technical support on painting, prepping, masking, and de-masking techniques.
12. Work closely with Quality Assurance to meet all quality standards, including FPY (First Pass Yield).
Key Skills
* Previous experience in an Operations Management role.
* Leadership skills to motivate and manage a team.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
* Paint Shop experience (Painting, Prepping, Masking, De-masking) is desirable.
* Strong planning and reporting skills.
* Awareness of SHE issues.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT skills.
* Excellent organization and time management, with meticulous attention to detail.
