Job overview
Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Paramedic (Workforce Development & Clinical Quality) the postholder is responsible for ensuring effective senior clinical leadership and clinical excellence within the organisation’s delivery of Clinical Development and Research through establishing new ways of working which support the delivery of the organisation’s clinical strategy (Patient Plan).
Working with Deputy, Associate Directors and Heads of relevant services, the role will ensure the clinical and patient agenda is embedded across the organisation.
Working extensively with stakeholders to optimise new models of clinical delivery models and associated post registration clinical development pathways that that enable change.
The postholder will be required to work closely with the Medical Director, the Chief Paramedic, the Deputy Chief Paramedics and other senior leaders within the Directorate to ensure the ongoing development of organisational objectives aligned to the corporate and associated underpinning strategies The postholder will have a regional-wide area of responsibility and will lead the Team to ensure the delivery of these objectives in a timely fashion.
The postholder will be accountable for leading the development of the clinical capabilities of our registrant workforce to enable clinical improvements that will enhance the efficiency and quality of care delivered, as well as supporting workforce retention.

Main duties of the job
Expert Practice
The postholder will use their extensive knowledge of the areas of advanced clinical practice to deliver expert practice.
Leadership
Professional leadership will include influencing and interpreting national policy and understanding its impact on the Organisation and the profession, more specifically towards urgent and emergency care.
Education
The postholder will take responsibility for the setting of direction for our post registration and preceptorship educational development in relation to clinical practice and development of new models of delivery through creating strong links with education providers, where appropriate. Taking an active role, as an expert resource, in the setting and monitoring of objectives.
Research and Evaluation
Research and evaluation is key to the understanding, learning, and development of clinical services in the Organisation. The postholder provide senior leadership to and grow the Organisations Research and Development department with a clear and unambiguous focus on Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) System transformation and sustainability, through conceptualising innovative and novel ways to improve clinical practice, organisational performance and UEC system service delivery.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
8. Master’s Degree in a professionally related subject, and/or equivalent significant experience of working at a senior level in a specialist advanced practice area.
9. Holds a level 7 or Level 8 research qualification or is due to complete within the next 48 months with extensive applied experience in pre-hospital research, including grant applications and bids.
10. Postgraduate Teaching Qualification, or experience of providing education at this level in healthcare.
Desirable criteria
11. Annotated as a Non-Medical Prescriber.
12. Membership of the relevant professional body (College of Paramedics, etc).
