Clinical Educator Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist

This role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to support the training and development of the therapy and discharge workforce within the acute inpatient therapy teams across CHFT.
The post holder will be a proactive role model who will work to support the provision of clinical education and assessment of competence within the inpatient therapy and discharge teams.
They will work to provide education, supervision and support in practice with a particular focus on the integration of the therapy and discharge teams and associated competency training related to this.
They will work closely with the inpatient acute teams and sit within the acute therapy team at HRI with a clinical caseload, but to also facilitate training and education requirements for the staff working within inpatient therapies and discharge. This may involve working across both our sites, CRH and HRI.
The post holder will have a particular focus on supporting members of the Inpatient Therapy and Discharge Team to receive the appropriate training and supervision specific to their specialty role and ensure that all competency and assessments are up to date.
The post holder will work within the therapy team as part of the clinical team focusing on supervision and support in practice for at least 50% of the time.

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
* Registered with HCPC.
* Evidence of Postgraduate training.
* Clinical Educator training
* Evidence of Leadership skills
* Evidence of mandatory training
* Studied at Masters level or equivalent
* Experience in contributing to service improvements e.g. audit, patient information etc.
* Experience in dealing with complaints e.g. diffusing complaint or investigating complaint
* Member of professional body
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
* Ability to prioritise workload of self and others
* Recent experience demonstrating ability to assess, treat and evaluate therapy intervention in acute hospital setting.
* Evidence of planning & delivering teaching sessions
* Evidence of mentoring/supporting staff
* Able to assess competency of staff and students
* Awareness of therapy competency frameworks
* Ability to assess risk on discharge and to put risk reduction measures in place
* Evidence of up to date best practice in acute medicine, emergency care, elderly care, falls, dementia and elective orthopaedics
* Ability to maintain accurate and timely records
* Awareness of relevant Legislation, Local and National initiatives
* Understanding of Clinical Governance
* Critical Appraisal Skills
* Evidence of relevant training and clinical practice
* Experience in supervising and training others.
* Experience of carrying out PDR's/appraisals
* Previous experience working at Band 6 level
