Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry - Outpatients
Main area Psychiatry Grade Consultant Contract Permanent Hours Full time – 10 sessions per week. Job ref: 311-M240-25-F. Site: Cherrywood Clinic, Oldham Town, Oldham. Salary: £109,725 – £145,478 per annum, pro rata. Closing 05/05/2026 23:59.
We are a fully NHS foundation trust providing mental health services across Greater Manchester, with a strong focus on teaching and research. This newly established post covers the central sector of Oldham (South and East Oldham, Chadderton, Royton, Shaw & Delph, Uppermill, Lees, Ashton Under Lyne). The consultant will manage outpatient clinics at Cherrywood Clinic and Werneth Primary Care Centre and will work with East, South and West Sector CMHTs, the Care Management and Review Team, and local service user & carer groups.
Key responsibilities include assessing and treating adults aged 16–64, managing complex psychiatric conditions using a bio‑psycho‑social approach, and contributing to service improvement, audit and research projects such as Bright Mind, FreshSTART, and Gamechange.

Person Specification
Medical Degree
* MBChB or equivalent.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
GMC Registration
* Full registration with GMC.
* In good standing with GMC (no warnings or conditions on practice).
Specialist Register
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of appointment.
Approved Clinician (AC) status
* Approved Clinician status required or to be achieved within three months of appointment.
S12 approval
* Approved under S12 or to achieve within three months of appointment.
Knowledge in Psychiatry
* Excellent knowledge of adult psychiatry, including complex psychological problems.
* Evidence of specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to the post.
