West Lothian is seeking to appoint an independent Chair, or Chairs, for the Adult and Child Protection Committees.

The role is critical to each of the Committees fulfilling its remit for co-ordination, planning, improvement and public engagement for the purposes of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults in West Lothian.

You will be expected to provide the West Lothian Chief Officers Group with assurance on the effectiveness of multi-agency working in relation to adult or child protection services.

You will work closely with all key partners.

You must have substantial experience of work at senior, strategic and operational level, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and have a successful track record in leading internal and external strategy and public sector governance processes. You should also be able to evidence understanding of the relevant legislation, guidance, policy and practice within which the Adult or Child Protection Committees operate.

You should be educated to degree level with a relevant professional qualification. The Chair’s role for each committee is distinct. Applications from people interested in undertaking the role for both committees will be accepted.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
