Depute Chief Executive / Director - People & Resources (Section 95 Officer)
Salary: £130K* plus Distant Islands Allowance (additional £2,997 per annum pro rata). Interim salary pending during current management review.
Relocation allowance: up to £8,000 available.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Broad Service Portfolio including Finance, Human Resources, Transformation, Climate Change & Waste, Asset and Property Management Services.
* Represent the Council externally to promote the best interests of Shetland Islands and shape policy decisions that affect the community.
* Support and deputise for the Chief Executive as required.
* Model organisational values and promote a One Council approach.
* Lead, motivate, inspire and develop staff; foster excellent relationships with elected members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Qualified accountant (Section 95 Officer required).
* Strong leadership and management attributes; ability to lead, motivate, inspire.
* Values‑led leader with visibility and accountability.
* Excellent communication skills and professional presence.
Additional Information
* Grade: CO 34 - 36.
* Length: Permanent Full Time, 37.0 Hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year.
* Relocation package applies.
* Interview expenses paid within UK.
* Must be able to travel across Shetland at short notice; limited public transport.
* Flexible working arrangements possible.
