What’s the role?
WSP are looking for an enthusiastic and diligent Electrical Engineer to join the Maritime team based in the UK. You will complement the wide experience of a highly knowledgeable and dynamic team of Maritime experts based in the UK and across the globe. You will contribute to the technical delivery of a wide range of UK-based and international projects for clients ranging from local authorities to private clients and international terminal operators. You will have the opportunity to provide input to all stages of project maturity, including Feasibility Studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering and Detailed Design.
Responsibilities
* Prepare electrical deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, cable calculations, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, cable containment design, switchgear configurations philosophies and produce bill of materials/quantities for electrical systems in accordance with international standards, and client requirements with minimum guidance.
* Draft electrical specifications and review contractor design submissions and assess them against Employers Requirements, specifications, national and international standards, codes and practice and good working practices.
* Work with equipment vendors on developing designs of equipment packages and participating in technical evaluations of vendor designs.
* Work with owners, operators and investors to assess the condition of electrical assets and their designs for capability, risk, opportunity and need for intervention.
* Develop project management skills by working closely with clients.
* Hybrid role with occasional site visits around the UK and overseas travel for short periods.

Qualifications
* Degree or similar qualification in relevant Engineering subject with significant post-graduate experience in electrical design and/or operation, maintenance and testing.
* Attainment of or working towards ECUK Chartered (CEng) level leading to Corporate Member of IET.
* Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
* Ability and desire to lead the development of Electrical deliverables and/or assessment of assets under construction or in operation.
* Knowledge of design, construction and operation of power and energy projects.
* Experience on Maritime projects (e.g., container terminals, liquid and dry bulk terminals, offshore wind, ro-ro).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and civil engineering skills.
* Ability to check and produce quality technical outputs and solutions.
* Ability to coordinate and work effectively with other disciplines and team members.
* Competence in using MS Office-based software.
* Clear English communication skills, both orally and in writing.
* Personable, approachable, enthusiastic and empathetic.
* Hold a full UK Driving Licence.
* Knowledge and practical experience of design tools: AutoCAD, Revit, AMTECH ProDesign, ETAP, PSCAD, PowerFactory (DIgSILENT), Dialux, Relux.
