We are a vibrant Indian–Sri Lankan restaurant offering authentic dishes crafted with care and passion. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Chef to support our Head Chef in preparing high-quality meals while maintaining kitchen efficiency and hygiene standards.
Role Overview
The Assistant Chef will work closely with the Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and kitchen organization. This role requires strong knowledge of Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine, a passion for cooking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist the Head Chef in preparing and cooking Indian & Sri Lankan dishes
· Ensure food is cooked and presented to restaurant standards
· Help with menu planning, specials, and recipe development
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
· Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control
· Follow food hygiene, safety, and allergen regulations at all times
· Support in training junior kitchen staff when required
· Work efficiently during busy service periods
· Ensure consistency in taste, portion, and presentation
Requirements
· Previous experience as an Assistant Chef / Commis Chef (Indian or Sri Lankan cuisine preferred)
· Strong cooking skills and passion for food
· Knowledge of kitchen operations, hygiene, and safety standards
· Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment
· Team player with strong communication skills
· Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
· Culinary qualification/certification is an advantage
· Health and Safety Level 1 Certificate
· Food and Hygienic Level 1 Certificate
