Role: Senior Software Controls Engineer - Water Sector
Location: Waterlooville, Hampshire
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hrs per week, flexible hours
Salary range: £55,000 - £65,000 (experience dependent)
About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Software Controls Engineer to work in our Water Sector.
Reporting to the Sector Project Manager, the role involves supporting and delivering automation projects for the company’s key accounts. Responsibilities include developing PLC, HMI, and SCADA software in a fast-paced and evolving industry sector, with significant customer-facing duties and site work.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Produce and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA software according to customer standards.
2. Advise customers on automation solutions and control system architectures following best practices.
3. Carry out site surveys and assist with project quotations (engineering time and materials).
4. Produce documentation for site access (RAMS and customer-specific forms).
5. Manage the entire project lifecycle from start to finish.
The Person:
* Good working knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems from OEMs such as Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Aveva Wonderware, and Beijer.
* Experience in setting up, commissioning, and fault-finding industrial networks.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams from industrial environments.
* Awareness of standards relevant to the water sector.
* Experience in programming and troubleshooting PLC & SCADA applications.
