The Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) is an established service delivering care to suitable emergency medical patients.
The main aim of the service is to rapidly assess, diagnose, and treat emergency medical patients within the same day, improving their patient journey and increasing bed capacity and patient flow within the hospital. Currently, we discharge up to 80% of patients through medical SDEC; they may require further treatment, but this is achieved by patients returning the following day, thus avoiding an overnight hospital stay.
