Vacancies: CLERK AND RESPONSIBLE FINANCE OFFICER (RFO) - NORTH CRAWLEY PARISH COUNCIL
Job Introduction
North Crawley is located within the rural area of Milton Keynes, approximately two and a half miles from Newport Pagnell, with around 800 residents. The Parish Council, comprising seven councillors, focuses on community welfare and maintains the recreation ground, play areas, footpaths, and cemetery. Due to the planned retirement of the current Clerk/RFO, we are seeking a responsible individual to manage the Council's administration. This part-time role is primarily home-based, with some evening work for monthly meetings. Occasional meetings within the Parish are required, so residence within a reasonable travel distance is necessary. As the Council’s Proper Officer, you will oversee all aspects of Council operations, ensuring compliance with legal and statutory duties, and act as the main contact for residents and contractors, leading projects. As RFO, you will ensure financial regulations are followed and prepare the Annual Statement of Accounts (AGAR).
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will serve as the Council’s Proper Officer, overseeing all operational aspects, ensuring compliance with legal and statutory obligations, and managing communication with residents and contractors. As RFO, responsibilities include maintaining financial records, ensuring adherence to financial regulations, and preparing the Annual Statement of Accounts (AGAR). The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and flexibility to work as part of a friendly team of councillors. Literacy and numeracy skills are essential for preparing reports, minutes, and maintaining accounts via a computerised package (Scribe). Full training, including CiLCA, will be provided and encouraged. This position may suit an experienced Clerk or someone interested in starting a career in local council administration.
