Job Title: Head of Warehouse & Logistics
Reporting to: Director of Operations, UK
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with additional hours as required

Role Overview
The Head of Warehouse & Logistics is a key operational leadership role responsible for the overall performance of the warehouse, logistics, internal transport, and workshop teams.
Building on an outstanding legacy of high quality art logistics, the role carries a strong mandate for operational innovation, continuous improvement in process and systems and building and maintaining high performing teams.
Core Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
* Provide day‑to‑day leadership across warehousing, internal logistics, vehicle operations, and the workshop to ensure smooth, consistent, and high‑quality service delivery.
* Ensure all operations reflect the highest levels of professionalism, accuracy, and care in the storage, handling, and movement of artworks.
* Oversee and coordinate permanent staff, flexible workforce pools, and temporary support to ensure the right level of resource at all times.
* Contribute to the development and execution of logistics strategy, aligned to the overall strategic objectives of the gallery.
* Build and lead high performing teams, establishing a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.
* Ensure well aligned and effective organizational structure, with clear roles and responsibilities that support operational objectives
* Support the professional growth of team members through coaching, feedback, and development planning.
* Champion effective communication and role‑model company values across all warehouse and logistics teams.
Operational Excellence
* Review and develop, where necessary, efficient logistics and warehouse processes and effective standard operating procedures, improving workflows, and embedding best practice in warehouse and logistics operations.
* Consistent with the ethos of continuous improvement, identify opportunities for improvement and gaps in existing processes and implement structured, measurable improvements.
* Serve as a senior stakeholder in the PIM / WMS Technology Transformation Programme, contributing operational insight, capturing requirements, and supporting successful adoption of new systems.
* Ensure effective stock controls, with clear policy, processes and documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Build strong, constructive relationships with Sales, Operations, Registrars, Client Services, and other key stakeholders to support seamless end‑to‑end operational processes.
* Act as the key representative for warehouse and logistics in cross‑departmental collaboration, ensuring the function's interests are reflected in wider business decisions.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to proactively resolve issues, streamline workflows, and support gallery-wide initiatives.
Budget, Supply Chain & Risk Management
* Maintain comprehensive oversight of warehouse expenditure and cost drivers, ensuring robust cost control and effective resource planning.
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive suite of operational KPI’s to manage performance and facilitate continuous improvement
* Lead supplier and transport partner management to ensure reliability, accountability, and consistent service standards.
* Ensure all activities are delivered in full compliance with health and safety regulations, internal risk frameworks, and industry best practice.
* Maintain a safe, organised, and compliant warehouse environment with strong oversight of risk‑mitigation measures.
* Significant experience in contemporary art warehousing, art handling, storage, and logistics or other comparable experience.
* Extensive operational experience and expertise, with the ability to apply best practice across functions.
* Proven leadership capability, with experience managing and developing diverse teams and operational Supervisors.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence and work effectively with senior colleagues and cross‑functional teams.
* Demonstrable experience delivering operational improvement, systems change, and organisational transformation.
* Strong cost awareness and budget management skills.
* Highly numerate and confident working across Microsoft applications and operational technology platforms.
£70,000-75,000 dependent on experience.
