Site Lead Radiographer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Lead Radiographer at Wansbeck General Hospital to cover a 12‑month secondment. You will be expected to manage the day‑to‑day operational running of the department as well as engage with other site and trust leads to improve our services for patients and staff well‑being.
You will work alongside the leads of North Tyneside General Hospital, Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital and Hexham General Hospital, as well as the trust CT lead, to ensure staffing levels and skill mix are maintained.
You will manage a team of approximately 25 staff, ensuring mandatory training, appraisals and staff health and well‑being are maintained. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hardworking individual looking to expand their knowledge and development.

Job responsibilities
* Attend team management meetings with cross‑site managers and Lead Radiographer to propose and assist in the implementation of service changes in response to NHS trends.
* Lead and support others during service developments.
* Work with the Operational Service Manager and Trust Lead Radiographer to develop necessary changes to the service to meet Department of Health targets.
* Collaborate with Consultant Radiologists to develop, implement and monitor compliance of imaging protocols, providing optimal examinations.
* Develop, implement and monitor compliance of departmental policies and procedures.
* Implement and monitor compliance of Trust policies and procedures.
* In line with agreed protocols, develop the radiography service by extending skill mix and role extensions for all staff.
* Liaise with clinicians and specialist staff to ensure government targets and guidelines for cancer and stroke are met.
Qualifications
* BSc in Radiography or equivalent.
* State Registration (HPC).
* Specialist post‑qualification in a specific imaging modality such as CT, image interpretation or other equivalent.
Experience
* Extensive experience in recognising trauma and pathologies to aid prompt appropriate treatment of patients.
Other requirements
* Car driver essential to meet on‑call commitments and travel to other sites for meetings or urgent senior cover. The role requires a valid driving licence and either a car owner who can use the car for work or a Trust personal lease vehicle. The Trust will consider making reasonable adjustments if necessary to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.
