Job Description
Pastoral Support Worker – Wirral | Full-Time Role Supporting Pupil Wellbeing
Are you passionate about helping young people feel safe, heard and understood in school? TalentBoard is looking for a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to support pupils across a selection of local Wirral schools. This full-time role is ideal for someone who is calm, compassionate and committed to improving the wellbeing, behaviour and emotional development of children and young people.
As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will be at the heart of supporting pupils who may be struggling with confidence, attendance, behaviour, emotional regulation or social challenges — helping them re-engage with learning and thrive in a nurturing environment.
About the Role
Working as part of school pastoral and safeguarding teams, you will support pupils who need additional emotional, behavioural or social guidance. Every day will be different, but your role may include:
* Providing 1:1 pastoral support and check-ins with pupils struggling emotionally or socially
* Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, low confidence, behaviour concerns or friendship difficulties
* Building trusting relationships through empathy, consistency and active listening
* Implementing tailored support strategies to help pupils regulate emotions and stay engaged
* Working closely with teachers, SEND staff, attendance teams and safeguarding leads
* Helping pupils develop resilience, self-esteem and positive coping strategies
* Supporting restorative conversations and promoting positive behaviour
* Monitoring pupil wellbeing and escalating concerns in line with safeguarding procedures
This is a full-time position, perfect for someone who loves making a long-term impact on young people’s lives.
An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) is essential.
