The post includes leading a team of registered and non registered Occupational Therapy staff, working in collaboration with Physiotherapy and other MDT colleagues to assess and treat trauma and orthopaedic patients at Treliske Hospital.
Support and supervision is available from the Professional Lead Occupational Therapists, Therapy Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics and Stroke and Neurology, plus the other Band 7 Occupational Therapy Team Leads across the inpatient service.

Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard Occupational Therapy service.
Tomaintain an agreed case load within in the clinical specialism, performing advanced assessment of patients including those with highly complex presentations. To formulate diagnoses and treatment plans, as an autonomous practitioner.
To undertake line manager duties for the team.
To work alongside the AHP Urgent Care Manager and Trauma and Orthopaedics Therapy Lead, and the Occupational Therapy Professional Leads, in planning, co-coordinating, delivering and evaluating the service.
To be instrumental in the on-going development of services and practices that provide high quality care and interventions.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registered
* Evidence of further formal study e.g. Postgraduate qualifications, (Postgraduate certificate/Diploma, Masters modules, or equivalent management qualification
* IELTS unless qualification in English
* Membership of relevant professional body
* Membership of relevant special interest groups
Experience
* Significant post qualification experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics
* Highly developed clinical skills in the speciality
* Ability to demonstrate highly developed leadership skills
* Proven experience of managing a service or change process
* Able to work and lead under externally applied pressures e.g. deadlines, competing demands and priorities
* Highly developed skills in managing staff, including managing challenging behaviours, emotive situations, (e.g. Attendance management, grief, illness, etc.)
* Experience of managing the risks associated with unsupervised/lone working
* Comprehensive experience as a clinical educator of undergraduate students
* Multi - professional working and working with different organisations
