Overview
We are offering an opportunity to join the Occupational Therapy Team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary as a Specialist Occupational Therapist. The role includes a specialist caseload across Integrated Community Stroke team, Acute frailty & extended stay wards, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services and the Emergency Department, with opportunities to work alongside our Discharge to Assess service.
Responsibilities
* Hold a specialist caseload on the rotational clinical area and deliver assessment and treatment.
* Support occupational therapists and the therapy team across wards and community visits.
* Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and complex discharge team to facilitate safe and effective care and hospital discharge.
* Provide supervision and support to OT team members and students.
* Engage in service development and deliver training as required.
* Maintain CPD and in‐service training.
Qualifications
* Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy approved by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
* Registration with HCPC as an Occupational Therapist.
* Ability to travel to a variety of venues throughout the community for assessments and meetings.
Essential Experience
* Post‑registration experience as an OT in acute inpatient, admission avoidance or community‑based rehabilitation settings.
Desirable Experience
* Accredited training in risk assessment and risk management.
* Practice placement educator accreditation.
* Member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT).
* Experience in research or audit, supervision of OT staff or students.

* Assessment, observation, evaluation and reporting skills.
* Ability to develop effective working relationships and team working.
* Analysis of professional and ethical issues.
* Ability to work under pressure and recognise when support is required.
* Effective personal organisational skills to manage workload and priorities.
Desirable Skills & Knowledge
* Training and facilitation skills.
* Clinical work experience at OT Band 5 grade in a variety of acute hospital settings and community.
Personal Qualities (Essential)
* Physical ability to meet job requirements and perform manual handling tasks.
* Willingness to travel to community and attend meetings.
* Flexibility to adapt to unexpected circumstances related to patient care.
