Porter
Location: Tees Valley Hospital, Middlesbrough
Hours: Full Time, weekly hours
Shift patterns: Mon-Fri 11am-6pm, Monday-Friday & some weekends
The role:
We have a great opportunity for a Porter to join our team at Tees Valley Hospital. You will be an integral part of a team who are committed to delivering the highest quality clinical outcomes in a supported environment, where you will be valued for your skills and expertise.
With a strong focus on customer service our team of Porters provide a vital service in our hospital. Although escorting patients in a safe and friendly manner is a key function of the role you will also be required to provide general porter services to all hospital departments. Duties will include management of waste, transit of blood and specimens, changing and handling of gas cylinders and manual handling of equipment.
Where you will be based:
Tees Valley Hospital is Teesside’s private hospital situated on the doorstep of the Tees Valley community and provides surgical, medical and assessment services on the grounds of Acklam Hall in Middlesbrough.
Key responsibilities:
1. Changing and handling of gas cylinders
2. Adhering to Health and Safety standards
3. Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks
4. Completing daily van runs for transport and delivery purposes
5. Conducting routine security checks of the hospital
6. Management of clinical and non-clinical waste
7. Supporting laundry services as required
8. Supervising and liaising with contractors on-site
9. Performing planned preventative maintenance checks
10. Providing internal and external postal services
11. Management of deliveries
12. Moving patients and material around the hospital as directed by the clinical team
13. Obtaining of supplies and equipment to replenish all departments in the hospital
What you’ll bring with you:
14. A valid, full UK driver’s licence is essential for this role
15. Maths/English to GCSE level or equivalent
16. Ability to work under your own initiative or as part of a small team
17. Ability to work within a challenging environment
18. Bring a ‘can do’ approach to the team
19. A flexible and positive attitude
20. Have good communication skills
21. Excellent customer service experience
22. Previous Porter experience (desired not required)
23. Previous experience in health care (desired not required)
