Wellesley Hills Financial is a boutique investment bank specializing in fintech, payments technology, and B2B, tech-enabled software. With offices in Boston, Los Angeles, and the EU, the firm's primary services include capital raising, M&A, restructuring, valuation, and strategic GTM advisory services.
The core team of Managing Directors is composed of vertical specific bankers who prioritize successful client outcomes over transaction count and hefty retainer fees. They adhere to a healthy work-life balance and work very closely with one another. Much of MD time is spent traveling for client cultivation and the management of active engagements. Wellesley Hills operates globally and regularly competes with the fintech units of larger, upper middle-market investment banks.
Though only 4-years old, we are currently scaling and experiencing an increasingly high volume of active engagements which requires additional associate-level personnel. Our target candidate ought to be on the cusp of being able to manage their own deal team. A pathway for upward mobility is always available: it’s the firm’s preference is to promote from within.
In terms of values alignment, we’re seeking candidates with a fierce work ethic, a desire to master the firm’s coverage areas, humility, assertiveness, and pride and ownership of work product. Cooperation, tenacity, thoughtfulness, creativity, rigor, efficiency, and self-discipline are also highly valued.
Professional attributes of ideal candidates include 2-4 years of technology investment banking experience, M&A deal team experience in large accounting and consulting shops, 2 years in private equity - growth equity or later stage venture, 2 years in corporate finance, 2 years in capital markets experience.
Responsibilities:
* Perform extensive financial/valuation analyses for mergers, acquisitions and debt/equity capital raising transactions. Carefully review and provide guidance to the Analysts’ work product.
* Build financial models to value potential and actual clients, leveraging broad understanding of valuation and finance/accounting principles. Assimilate information to perform insightful analyses and identify areas of opportunity in deal structure or operating efficiency for clients.
* Support senior bankers in due diligence, research, analysis and documentation of potential and live transactions. Anticipate potential deal issues and pass concerns through to senior bankers in real time.
* Develop proposals and management presentations for clients and prospects. Engage with Analysts in developing marketing materials that highlight the competitive advantage of Wellesley Hills Financial.
* Actively participate in client or prospect-facing presentations to highlight financial analysis and research results. Ideal prospects show a willingness to build relationships within our coverage areas and the ability to identify/create new client/project opportunities for the firm.
* Identify improvements to processes and propose solutions to complete tasks more efficiently. The ability to leverage AI and integrate new technology to automate workflows is a plus.
* Demonstrate an understanding of financial technology sub-sectors and associated macro factors.
* Additional responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree required, with a minimum 3.50 GPA.
* 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, growth equity, consulting, technology corporate development, or transaction advisory services (preferably with live M&A deal exposure).
* A passion for the technology sector. Previous experience with software and/or financial technology companies is a plus.
* Strong financial modeling skills (3 statement model, net revenue by customer and churn analyses, LBO) and quantitative background coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
* Excellent verbal/written communication skills with ability to manage a variety of transactions and projects simultaneously.
* Demonstrated leadership skills and a team player with a strong motivation to contribute to a positive team culture.
* Ability to effectively lead analysts and provide training and guidance on proper financial modeling, presentation building, and research methods.
* Demonstrated performance operating in a fast-paced environment that values initiative, creativity, maturity, and poise.
* SIE, Series 79 (or Series 7), and Series 63 exams must be acquired within 150 days of employment.
* Located within the Greater Boston Area, or is willing to relocate, and must be open to on-site work 5 days per week.
* Travel as required for industry conferences and on-site meetings with clients/prospects.
