A new opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered, Specialist Biomedical Scientist with experience working in a Haematology /Blood Transfusion laboratory to join the Haematology department based in the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

You are required to hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology and Transfusion Science or if you do not have this qualification you will be prepared to complete the portfolio on appointment.

Consideration will be given to applicants who are HCPC registered but lack relevant laboratory experience equivalent to a Specialist Biomedical Scientist- and are willing to undertake the IBMS Portfolio in Haematology & Blood Transfusion.

These candidates if successful will be required to complete their Specialist Portfolio and the schedule of in house training provided, within the agreed time scale, prior to progression to Band 6 and the salary will be paid at Annex 21 of the A4C Terms and Conditions.

Active participation in CPD and opportunities for further study are supported and encouraged. You will be employed to work shifts over 7 days which include public holidays, evening, weekend and overnight shifts as required by the needs of the service.

This is a busy, well equipped department providing Haematology and Blood Transfusion support to the Acute Hospital, Community Hospitals and General Practice in Forth Valley. The department is working towards ISO15189 accreditation and is generally compliant with the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations. A Direct Ordering system has been introduced for Primary and Secondary care and the department has recently implemented new equipment through a managed service contract.

The department is Accredited to UKAS ISO;15189(2022) Standards.
