About the Role
As a locum Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, you'll provide expert care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services.
Responsibilities
10. Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of older adults with complex medical, cognitive, and functional needs.
11. Lead multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and work collaboratively with nursing, therapy, and social care colleagues.
12. Deliver high‑quality inpatient and outpatient geriatric care, including frailty assessment, falls management, dementia care, and rehabilitation planning.
13. Participate in acute care of older people (frailty units, front‑door frailty services, acute wards, etc.).
14. Develop individualised care plans focused on optimising independence, quality of life, and safe discharge.
15. Provide clinical leadership and support service development to improve pathways for older patients.
16. Supervise, teach, and mentor junior medical staff, trainees, and other healthcare professionals.
17. Contribute to governance activities including audits, quality improvement projects, and clinical risk management.
18. Participate in the consultant on‑call rota as required.
19. Engage in research and evidence‑based practice to support continual improvement of geriatric services.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
20. MBBS or equivalent medical degree
21. Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
22. CCT in Geriatric Medicine
23. A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check - or a willingness to undergo one as part of the registration process
24. UK Right to Work
25. Strong communication and teamworking skills
