Job Title:
Business Development Executive

Hours of Work:
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Location:
Office based in Telford-Hybrid work flexibility dependent on your location.

Summary

We're recruiting on behalf of our client based in the Telford area for a Business Development Executive within their insurance team, who will be covering nationwide.

This role is ideal for a motivated sales professional with experience in insurance, customer engagement, and business development. You'll be responsible for growing new business, managing client accounts, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, while working closely with the Fleet Manager to support the company's growth plans.

Purpose of the Role

* Work within the department to meet customer needs in a professional and timely manner.
* Deliver against agreed sales and service targets to support company growth plans.
* Provide assurance to the Fleet Manager that all business is conducted in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.
* Uphold compliance by maintaining the company's legal and ethical standards.
* Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, arranging appointments for face-to-face visits where appropriate.
* Build and manage a portfolio of clients in line with personal account targets.
* Undertake thorough reviews of clients' insurance requirements at new business stage and during renewals.
* Market both new and renewal business effectively to ensure best possible cover for clients.
* Issue renewal terms within FCA guidelines and required timescales.
* Identify risk management measures to help clients mitigate exposure.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with industry professionals relevant to the HGV and insurance sector.

Skills & Knowledge

* Strong customer interaction skills, both face-to-face and over the phone.
* Excellent attention to detail with the confidence to question and clarify client information.
* Previous insurance industry experience, ideally within a similar role, with the ability to provide tailored advice to meet client needs.
* Ability to match products to client requirements and identify suitable cover options.
* Proficiency in quotation platforms, CRM systems, and telephone-based sales processes.
* Solid understanding of insurer schemes, delegated rates, and finance options for clients.
* Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and ownership of tasks.

* Maintain a strong customer focus and lead by example in promoting this ethos across the team.
* Ensure all activity is fully compliant with FCA regulations.

* Adapt sales approaches to suit each client's needs.
* Display strong attention to detail and ensure accuracy in all aspects of work.
* Provide outstanding customer service to support the firm's wider goals.
* Act with integrity, fairness, and impartiality at all times.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

* Gather and analyse client information to make suitable, compliant recommendations.
* Complete all supporting documentation accurately and in line with company and FCA standards.
* Comply at all times with the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and FCA rules.
* Maintain professional competence through ongoing training and adherence to company procedures.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
