An amazing opportunity to complete an Animal Care Level 2 Apprenticeship. You will learn to be a kennel assistant, with all that entails such as:
* Walking dogs
* Cleaning accommodation
* Dog nutrition (and cats)
* Site maintenance, making sure is is hazard free
* Working as part of a team that takes animal care very seriously.
* It can be a fun job, playing with dogs, stroking and cuddling cats (when they let you) and being responsible for the care and wellbeing of the animals left in our charge, but it is a hard physical work.
* There is a lot of walking and cleaning, so you will need to be very fit and enjoy being outdoors in all kinds of weather.
* Smooth running of the kennels and cattery
* Dogs are exercised several times a day, they are fed and medication is administered when necessary and we provide enrichment activities and health checks throughout the day.
* Cats are fed and given medication when necessary and we provide enrichment.
* Day to day cleaning is required as well as some deep cleaning and pressure washing and general maintenance of the premises.
* You will be required to greet clients and check in their pets and answer the telephone to take bookings.
Hours:
* 30-36 hours per week
* Shifts/rotas TBC at interview stages

Qualifications
* Maths and English at GCSE level at C and above are desired
* Applicants MUST NOT already hold a level 2 or higher in animal care or related subject to be eligible.
Future Prospects
* Our last apprentice still works with us, nine years after completing her qualification.
* Employment for the right candidate.
Training
* Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
* The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Animal Care & Welfare Apprenticeship Standard.
* The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
* The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship
Things to consider
* Animal roles often require applicants to be active all day, can be very mucky and working outside in all weathers.
* KEITS Training Services Ltd reserves the right to close the vacancy earlier than the listed closing date should the need arise.
* The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
