We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee and manage the day-to-day financial operations of a small team. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is comfortable managing everything from transactional accounting to high-level financial reporting and strategic planning.
Your new role
You will report directly to the Managing Director and will be responsible for the following:
* Financial Reporting & Compliance - Oversee accurate monthly and annual financial statements, ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies and oversee internal and external audits and liaise with auditors
* Hands-On Accounting Management - Managing the general ledger, accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations. Maintain and improve accounting systems and controls and assist in the preparation of VAT returns and other regulatory filings
* Budgeting & Forecasting - Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasting. Monitor performance against budgets and provide variance analysis. Cash Flow Management and preparing cash flow forecasts and managing working capital effectively
* Business Partnering - providing financial insights and support to department heads and senior leadership
* Team Leadership - Supervise and mentor finance staff and oversee the training and development of team members
What you'll need to succeed
* Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA) preferred
* 2 years PQE
* Experience in producing monthly management accounts, VAT and payroll
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
