About the Role
As a Consultant / Senior Ecologist, you’ll work on a diverse portfolio of ecology projects, providing high-quality technical input and helping to shape practical, creative solutions for clients. You’ll be involved in everything from ecological surveys and assessments to reporting, project coordination, and supporting colleagues in the team.
You’ll collaborate across disciplines, contributing ecological insight to landscape and design projects, while developing your own skills and professional experience in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Undertaking and coordinating a range of ecological surveys
* Preparing clear, accurate ecological reports and assessments (e.g. PEAs, EcIAs, mitigation plans)
* Contributing to the design and implementation of mitigation and enhancement measures
* Managing your own workload and supporting project delivery
* Working collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and partners to deliver positive ecological outcomes
This position offers a flexible, hybrid working model - regular office attendance is not required, and working patterns can be tailored to suit individual preferences and experience.
About You
You’ll be an experienced ecologist with at least 3 years’ experience in ecological consultancy. You’ll have a solid grounding in survey work, reporting, and project delivery, along with an interest in contributing to multidisciplinary design and planning projects.
You’ll be organised, approachable, and collaborative - someone who takes pride in producing quality work and enjoys being part of a friendly, growing team.
You’ll bring:
* At least 3 years’ experience in ecological consultancy
* Experience in ecological surveys and reporting (e.g. PEAs, UKHab, protected species surveys)
* Understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and mitigation principles
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail
* At least one protected species licence (or working towards one)
* A full UK driving licence
* The right to work in the UK
Membership of CIEEM (or eligibility for it) would be an advantage.
