Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and autonomous Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse, or Registered Adults/Children’s Nurse to join the Trust’s Safeguarding Learning Disability & Autism Team as the Senior Learning Disability & Autism Nurse.
The post holder will be working as the Senior Learning Disability & Autism Nurse for a safeguarding dynamic team, supporting the Lead Practitioner by taking a lead on service improvement for the Learning Disability & Autism service across BHRUT’s two hospital sites.
Main Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for improving the quality of care received by individuals with a learning disability and autistic people within the acute hospital setting by ensuring both local and national best practice are integrated within the Trust.
They will act as a role model and clinical expert within the speciality of learning disability nursing across all areas of the Trust, supporting clinical staff in the management of care planning for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
Person Specification
* Registered Learning Disability Nurse or Registered Children’s or Adults Nurse.
* Substantial post-registration experience of working with adults, children and young people with a learning disability and autism at Band 6 or equivalent level.
* Experience of working in an acute hospital Trust.
* Experience of undertaking audits and report writing.
* Experience of delivering safeguarding supervision.
* Abilities with using professional curiosity and professional challenge in managing complex cases.
