THEATRES, ANAESTHETICS, CRITICAL CARE, PRE-OP & PAIN DIRECTORATE Band 5 - Theatre Practitioner (Main Theatres & Other Specialities) Full/Part Time - Permanent
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 ODPs or Registered Nurses to join our Theatre teams. All practitioners will have opportunities for training and development to support progression within the role.
We are the Specialist Vascular Centre for the Black Country, covering Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton, with a dedicated vascular theatre and close links to the Interventional Radiology suite. We are also the Midland Orthopaedic Centre and an Endometriosis Centre.
Our Theatre department consists of 10 Main Theatres, 4 Day Surgery theatres and 2 Obstetric theatres, with additional support to a Minor Procedure Room and the Interventional Radiology Unit. We also operate a Day Surgery Theatre and Ward at a satellite site less than three miles from the main hospital.

Main duties of the job
Deliver a high standard of patient carein accordance withTrust policies and procedures.
Organise and manage the day-to-day running ofallocatedareas, as directed by the Specialty Manager/Team Leader and within own level of competence.
Take charge of clinical sessions asrequiredto ensure safe and effective service delivery.
Liaise with medical staff, senior nursingstaffand other departments to support the smooth running of services.
Ensure all relevant staff are informed of changes to procedures, operatinglistsor service arrangements.
Supervise and support learners and junior staff in line with their level of competence and skill.
Ensure patients, relatives and ward staff receiveappropriate informationand that all documentation is completed accurately.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
* Good standard of general education
* Basic resuscitation / ILS / IV therapy
Knowledge & Training
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Willingness to undertake further training relevant to the role
* Willingness to rotate across theatres within the Trust for professional development
* Completion of a recognised theatre training programme or evidence of relevant perioperative experience
Experience
* Current or recent experience working as a Theatre Scrub Practitioner in a theatre setting
Communication & Relationship Skills
* Effective communication skills -- written, verbal and IT with the ability to communicate clearly with members of the MDT, patients, families and carers
* IT literate, with the ability to use and learn theatre-specific digital systems
Analytical & Judgement Skills
* Ability to provide holistic care to patients
* Ability to problem-solve and use sound clinical judgement
* Able to organise and prioritise workload effectively
Planning Skills
* Physical capability to perform the role with reasonable adjustments as required
* Able to cope with unpredictable work patterns and rapidly changing clinical situations
* Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
* Able to remain calm and effective when working under pressure
Management Skills
* Ability to support colleagues, including student nurses and ODPs
* Ability to keep accurate, confidential patient records
